Adriane Weller; Director of the Board, Home Hospice Hamilton-Halton Region
Adriane grew up in Burlington and graduated from Burlington Central High School. She continued her formal education at McGill University earning a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Arts. Upon graduation, Adriane embarked upon a deeply enriching informal education during a 21-month solo backpacking journey through Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. In unexpected ways, her life has been an adventure ever since.
After some years as a Professional Life Coach, Adriane heard deeper callings and turned toward becoming a Doula (End of Life, Infant & Pregnancy Loss, Birth and Postpartum), a Life-Cycle Celebrant and a Yoga Teacher. Woven through all of this is her deep passion to support others in living well, knowing all their available options, understanding their rights, and creating the most meaningful and authentic experiences possible in all aspects and moments of life, including death. As an End of Life Doula, Adriane supports others through Advance Planning and Preparation, Dying & Death Companionship, Family-Led Deathcare, Natural Deathcare, Community Education, and as an End of Life Celebrant. She is passionate about tending to fear and confusion around dying and death and replacing it with education and choice.
Adriane strives to nurture and be of service at some of the deepest and most profound moments and experiences in our lives. She finds her greatest contentment in the quiet moments of life, in service to others, or in the arms of Nature - in a forest, on a lake, rowing or paddling.
As a Home Hospice Hamilton-Halton Volunteer and Board Member, and co-facilitator of Our Babies, Our Grief Peer Support Group, Adriane is honoured to contribute to the Chapter’s mission of educating and empowering people and their loved ones to make informed, authentic choices about their end of life journey, and to provide compassionate care to support their choices. HHA is listening closely to the needs of our community and Adriane is honoured to walk alongside this dedicated, committed team.
If you’re lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it.” ― John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meany
