The Foundation of our Hospice at Home Program
Her eyes are open…can she see me?
Her eyes are closed…can she hear me?
The emotional vulnerability we feel as our loved ones inch closer to death can be a beautiful experience with the kind of support a Death Doula provides.
Are you being called to this work?
Home Hospice Association’s holistic approach to end of life care; our desire to support someone’s wish to die at home and the need to build a national family of change makers inspired our team to build a uniquely Canadian Program.
Why Choose Home Hospice Association as your Death Doula Educators:
The team responsible for the creation of the Death Doula Training & Certification Program share a calling for this work and a passion for education. By bringing their diverse backgrounds and individual experiences in spiritual care, death care and bereavement care to the process of developing this training program, the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and meaning making elements of “how to create space for dying” became the foundation of our Death Doula Training Program. Collectively and lovingly, they melded together in a common calling and common passion to launch this training program in the fall of 2017.
Why Home Hospice Association chose to build this Death Doula Training
Home Hospice Association’s cornerstone service is our Hospice At Home Program. We chose to develop the Death Doula Training & Certification Program to ensure compassion, education, care and support for every client. For those who have been ‘called to serve’ in a formal capacity, this training is an excellent addition to your toolkit of ways you can better support terminally ill people in your community.
What you can expect from the training weekend
You will not walk out of this training weekend the same person you walked in! When you attend the Death Doula Training you can expect to get in touch with your own thoughts and feelings about your own death in order to do the work you are being called to do.
You will gather practical knowledge about terminal illness and the journey most of us travel. Each of the three days is jammed packed with activity, open discussion and interactive learning, and is the first step in becoming a certified Death Doula!
Home Hospice Association provides you with everything you need for a complete and meaningful weekend of impactful training; leaving your heart & mind open; ready to make a difference, through your private practice and with HHA!
We will nourish your mind, body and soul!
Only you will know if this is right for you…
Consider how it would feel to be in a position to support others at the end of their lives.
Reach out to us anytime to share thoughts or questions as you are making a decision.
