It was November 2017 and it was Niagara Falls.  Three brave souls became the very first to complete HHA’s Death Doula Training weekend.  We had not intended on creating a death doula training program.  While the foundation of Hospice at Home is the pivotal role a Death Doula play in the goal of a “good death”, we sought to build a partnership to deliver the training.  When it became evident that a quality, highly interactive and engaging training was necessary; one that was uniquely Canadian we stepped up to the challenge.  It was a powerful weekend and while physically and emotionally exhausted on Sunday night, we knew we had a “winner”.  The training has evolved and our attendance grown significantly.  A chance opportunity to have TFO (Television Francophone Ontario) film our training added an important and powerful new element.
