Dallas Mulvale ~ Member HHA-Niagara Region ~  Chapter Leader The Bello Project

My understanding, experience and empathy towards death, the dying and their families.  As an animal lover, being a member of the Bello Project could not have been a better fit. I feel honoured to be able to be part of a compassionate team that helps others - human and animals alike - during one of the most challenging transitions that life brings. I have lived in St.Catharines for quite some time with my 10 year old Miniature Pinscher, Billie. I was an equestrian for quite a few years and have since retired from jumping due to an injury sustained. I attended Brock University for Business with a minor in Italian and Latin. I am a self-proclaimed foodie, and love discovering new restaurants and trying different cuisines. Because I love food so much, I am thusly a regular at the gym! I had been in financial services for several years as a portfolio manager and team lead. I am in the process of writing a new chapter for myself and I am currently seeking and venturing into intrinsically gratifying experiences and opportunities.

“Per essere grandi bisogna prima di tutto saper essere piccoli. L'umiltà è la base di ogni vera grandezza.” -

To be great, we must first of all know how to be small. Humility is the base of all true greatness

In Conversation:

What are the values that drive you?  Honesty, empathy, collaboration, humility and kindness.

Who is someone you admire, and why?  My late Grandmother. She played with the hand she was dealt and was a graceful, kind, calm woman even in the face of adversity.

Your top three favorite books, music artists or movies.  books: Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell, Tuesdays with Morrie, The Timekeeper and Tuesdays with Morrie - all written by Mitch Albom other: Making Sense podcast by Sam Harris (and any of his books).

movies: documentaries, mostly.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?  I learned to ride a horse before a bike. So this is actually about a lack of skill because I never learned to ride a bike - haha. I pick up languages easily and brush up on my Italian every so often. I know how to train a dog using hand signals, and recently offered to help train a deaf dog. Upon the first time playing darts, I got a “bullseye” - this was clearly a fluke, but I am including it.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me… Curled up with a book, with Billie beside me after I return from the gym. Or, out for a solo breakfast at one of the many awesome places in Niagara!

How do you want people to remember you?  I would like to be remembered for how I lived. Gentle and devoted friend, daughter, sister and sincere, loving advocate of those who cannot speak for themselves.

Where do you yourself in the next 10 years? I see myself continuing to assume more responsibility and hopefully be a gentle and supportive guiding hand for others. I intend this to mean within the HHA, the Bello Project and in my personal career life. I feel I have always been cut out for leadership responsibilities due to my diplomatic nature and my natural ability and strong desire to do what is right by others and organizations.

What would be your personal motto? I never felt that the Golden Rule of “ do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, was a religious ‘rule’ - but a purely human one. I do unto others the very best I can. I feel if this ideology was a widely practiced, we could avoid a lot of discord and hurt worldwide.
