It was April 2015 and we sent Glen for the “Starbucks Run”.  It was unusual for him to be the designated person to rhyme our unusual orders.  Standing in line, Glen remembers that he could feel someone staring at him.  He turned around and saw two people sitting at table and the woman (at the table) was staring at him quite intently.  A coincidence, likely, he turned back around.  Not only did the feeling of being watched continue but now he overheard the woman say “I’m pretty sure that is him”.  Before he knew it, he was being called to … are you Glen Burkholder, I’m Sue Parrent?!”

Glen and Sue grew up as neighbours and had not seen each other for over 25 years.  The chance reunion conversation sparked an idea that became HHA’s Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula Training Program.  Sue led our team through the creation and launch of Canada’s first training and today not only do the co-facilitate the training weekend but they are highly sought after by funeral professionals wanting to do a better job caring for families at such a devasting time!
