Hospice at Home

Honouring dying by deepening the spiritual, emotional and physical domains of care

245,000 Canadians will die of a terminal illness this year. 70% of those wishing to die where they call home won't be able to.

Institutionalized hospice infrastructure and care is often cost-prohibitive, leaving many communities with enormous challenges for how to adequately address compassionate end-of-life care. Hospice at Home provides a solution.

About Hospice at Home

HHA Hospice At Home.png

Wherever someone lays their head, we will make their hospice bed.

The greatest service gap in caring for the dying is a lack of beds in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and residential hospices for the last weeks and days of life. Hospice at Home supports an individual to die where they call home - whether that be a traditional home, long-term care facility, group home, shelter, prison cell, etc.

Through this program, HHA-trained Death Doulas offer guidance and support with planning, legacy work, and vigiling when a person is actively dying, providing a level of awareness and comfort that is necessary for the person to die in peace, dignity and with a sense of control over their dying experience.
