has been featured:

For as long as she remember, Izabela always wanted to be involved in helping people at the end of their life journey.

She is a long time certified hospice volunteer involved with the hospice since 2001 and has over 16 years experience in hospice and home hospice care.

She is also a Certified End of Life Doula from the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto.

She believes the things you are passionate about are not random, but rather your calling. She is most fulfilled when around the sick and dying. Whether it’s being their friend and companion or an attentive listener to their story and their journey.
She loves nature and all living things and often finds herself strolling through the woods. She thrives through yoga and doing asanas on her mat makes her feel connected to every living being.

In Conversation...

What is your background? I came to Canada in the early 90s and settled in Ottawa with my husband and our daughter. I’ve been working in dental industry for close to 20 years as a technologist specializing in implants. I’ve also been a treasurer for a financial planning company for over 20 years. I’ve been a certified end of life doula since 2016. Helping people and being present in their time of need was and is the most important and fulfilling work to me. I am also a long time hospice volunteer with over 16 years of experience and knowledge in home and residential settings. Becoming a part of the HHA family was a very natural way for me to get involved as both compassionate caregiving and hospice at home care are very close to my heart.

What are the values that drive you? Respect for myself and others, tolerance, honesty, compassion and kindness.

Who is someone you admire and why? This one is easy for me. My dearest aunt Irene. She’s the most wonderful and beautiful human being I have ever known. She is an epitome of perfection and beauty inside and out. She is my idol! As a practicing OBGYN at her young age of 86 she’s still working tirelessly helping to bring life into this world. For close to 65 years her wisdom and expertise has helped countless families.

Your top three favourite books, artists or movies: Four agreements by Miguel Ruiz.; Animal farm by George Orwell.; The untethered soul by Michael Alan Singer.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about? Yoga is my life and my life skill.

Finish this sentence: On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...practicing yoga.

How do you want people to remember you? I want them to remember me by my unconditional love, compassion and care for all living beings. For always trying my best and for never giving up.

Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years? Doing exactly what I’m doing right now plus way more!
