It costs nothing to be kind.  Be an invitation to live to another person. You never know what battles they are fighting.

In Conversation:

What is your background? I am a Registered Nurse for the past 45 years. I still work a few shifts in Hospice. I can’t seem to get this retirement thing right! I am married to a lovely man and I have a daughter and 2 grandchildren. I have 5 step grandchildren.  I have taken the Death Doula course and am working on completing the requirements. I am a Mindfulness/meditation teacher/ facilitator and a Reiki practitioner. My husband and I are very active in /dog rescue (our rescue efforts have included cats and a rooster).

I am transport coordinator for Jack Russell Terrier Rescue. We support animal rights groups such Animal Alliance and the Animal Protection Party of Canada. We work on environmental preservation where we can as well. I am project lead for the Bello Project Hamilton for HHA and so happy to be a part of this organization.

What are the values that drive you? Truth, honesty and compassion are the important ones.

Who is someone you admire, and why?  Ghandi embodied enlightenment through courage, mindfulness, gentleness and perseverance in a peaceful manner.  His life was a testament to his values.

Your top three favourite books, music artists or movies. Out of the Shadows (Forever and the Night and For All Eternity in one novel) by Linda Lael Miller (luscious, sensual vampire saga), Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari and I love Rod Stewart.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about? I am taking music again in my senior years. I am learning to play keyboard. I would not call it a skill or talent at this point. I have good leadership skills and project management skills. And I am taking Yoga Teacher Training so hopefully will be able to teach yoga by the end of August.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me…Walking the dogs after a leisurely soak in the hot tub and a coffee with my husband

How do you want people to remember you? That I made someone’s life easier and that I brought laughter and humor to my relationships.

What are some causes you care about? Animal rights and rescue. Environmental and climate change issues. I have been aware of the need for change to protect the climate since the 80’s and we have done nothing but escalate so I do all I can to support those who make decisions. I attended a world conference in 1989 where we were warned we had 7 years to clean up our habits. We all know how that went.

Where do you yourself in the next 10 years? I am planning on continuing my work with rescue, Yoga teaching, Reiki, meditation facilitation and volunteering. I wish to use my skills to better my community and be a voice for the vulnerable.
