Lisa Karl; Director, Home Hospice Hamilton-Halton Region
Growing up in Hamilton, Lisa attended St. Thomas More high school and then studied nursing at Mohawk College. She and her husband have one child who is a Recreation Therapist and lives in Whitby. When time allows, Lisa and her family enjoy their cottage, playing golf, gardening and playing with their dog, Minter.
Like many nurses, Lisa has worked in many different fields. From general surgery, to Emergency, to Endoscopy where she currently works now as the Charge Nurse. When she heard about the purpose of Home Hospice Association and was invited to join the Board of Directors for Home Hospice Hamilton-Halton (HHHH), Lisa knew that the cause was something she believed in. In fact, with retirement not too far away, Lisa had already been thinking that she wanted to continue serving in the Palliative Care field after retiring, but just wasn’t sure what that would look like. For now, she enjoys hearing about the many ways that HHHH is reaching out to the public for volunteers and donations, and is also helping by attending meetings and volunteering when possible.
“If you’re working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed.”
