Honouring the bond between people and their pets

The Bello Project

300,000 residents of Canada will be diagnosed with a life-limiting illness this year

More than 1/2 of them are pet owners

The Bello Project provides volunteer-based, in-home pet care assistance for pets of terminally ill clients at no cost, allowing them to remain together sharing companionship and love when it is most needed.

Today, more than ever, pets are often a person’s primary companion.  The loss of their owner can be very traumatic for a pet which makes planning for them even more important in the case of a terminal illness.

The Bello Project eases the worry of “what may happen?” for the owner and “what just happened?” for the pet.  Pet care assistance can be provided during all stages of an owner’s life-limiting illness beginning at initial diagnosis, giving them peace of mind and support while helping to relieve the additional stress of pet care for their family.  In the advanced stage of illness, The Bello Project can assist in finding and smoothly transitioning the pet to a new home if required. This service is lovingly provided at no cost to the dying owner or the pet’s new family.
