Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How would you sum up the scope of practice for a Death Doula?
A:  Specifically your scope of practice is to provide emotional, practical and "spiritual" support in the preparation and subsequent experience of the dying of each individual you serve. The word doula when you correlate to the work of a birthing doula really does bring to light the fullness of the role. Just as the female body actually knows what to in birth our bodies  know how to naturally die.  Therefore the role of the Death Doula is to support the process for the person dying and those in their presence.  It is a noble and honourable privilege to bare witness (to) and makes this an incredible journey for you and those you will ultimately be able to serve!
