Home Hospice Association (HHA) works with community leaders, volunteers and student interns from colleges and universities, who are committed to normalizing death and helping us make compassionate end-of-life care available to anyone facing death - at any time, of any age, under any roof.

  • A member of one of our Program or Working Group Teams

  • A member of our National or Chapter Board of Directors

  • A caregiving volunteer

  • An event organizer or team member

Our Volunteer Opportunity Highlights

Working Group Team Members

We're working on some exciting new projects in their development and pilot stages, and are looking for dedicated individuals to help us with the following projects:

  • Day Hospice for Street Involved

  • Forgotten Responders & De-briefing Helpline (support for professional caregivers)

  • Prison Hospice Pilot 

  • Houseless Hospice Pilot 

  • No Place Like Home Pilot (supporting LGBTQ2S+ residents in long-term care)

If you’re interested in helping us develop and implement any of these projects, we’d love to hear from you! We’re specifically looking for people who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

 

  • Project management and Team engagement

  • Social work or Social services work

  • End-of-life care, Death Doulas

  • Marketing and/or Fundraising

  • Experience working with the project’s target populations/communities

Moonlit Memory Walk Volunteers

Help us to make our annual Moonlit Memory Walk fundraiser a successful event in your community! All money raised from the event directly supports the work of Home Hospice Association to ensure that increasing numbers of people across Canada can access quality compassionate end-of-life care.

We're currently looking for Planning Team Volunteers and On-site Event Team Volunteers. Learn more about all available roles on our Moonlit Memory Walk website.

National or Chapter Board Members

We're looking for dedicated and passionate people to join our leadership team at either the National or Chapter level. This position is ideal for people who have a strong desire to effect change by working within a charitable organization, enjoy engaging in conversations with diverse groups of people, and wish to become part of a dynamic team that is working to fulfill HHA’s mission and vision.  Board positions are for a 2-year term and involve a time commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per month to effectively fulfill the position’s responsibilities, including required attendance at a monthly 1.5-hour Board meeting.  No previous board experience is needed.    

 

As a member of a Chapter or National Board of Directors you will:

 

  • Participate in the establishment of strategic goals, policies, objectives and timelines

 

  • Develop and utilize community contacts to establish relationships with other proven agencies and individuals that desire to provide compassionate, inclusive and culturally sensitive end-of-life care to anyone facing death 

  • Collaborate with others in a mentorship and leadership role
