Continuing Education for HHA Death Workers

Welcome to HHA's Death Worker Continuing Education Programming, where we offer a diverse range of learning opportunities designed to enhance your skills and knowledge. Our events & activities provide a supportive community for HHA Death Workers. Whether you're a volunteer, Candidate, or certified professional, these sessions offer invaluable insights, practical experience, and a chance to connect with fellow caregivers, all aimed at enriching your journey in compassionate end-of-life care.

Guest Speaker Nights

Guest Speaker Nights build upon HHA’s mission to provide in-depth, specialized knowledge, preparing our practitioners to offer the highest level of care.

Expert-Led Learning

Guest Speaker Nights are a cornerstone of HHA's commitment to offering specialized knowledge and support to our community of Death Workers. These sessions provide an ongoing interactive learning experience, designed to build confidence and skills.

During Guest Speaker Nights, participants have the unique opportunity to learn from and interact with educators who are specialists in their areas. This direct access to subject matter enthusiasts allows for deep dives into specific topics, ensuring that our community gains the most relevant and thorough understanding needed to provide compassionate care.

Case Study Nights

Case Study Nights provide a collaborative environment for discussing care approaches within our Four Domains.

Group Discussion & Learning

Case Study Nights offer our Death Workers a chance to engage in group discussions, developing comprehensive care plans based on real-life scenarios. These sessions are all about ensuring equitable access to end-of-life care by exploring how to best support diverse, marginalized, and vulnerable populations, such as the incarcerated, addicted, disabled, queer & trans, and houseless.

Each month, we focus on a theme related to death education, allowing participants to grow and learn in their particular areas of interest.

'What Would You Do?' Nights

Designed to anticipate potential situations, 'What Would You Do?' Nights enhance our preparedness and effectiveness in providing compassionate care.

Anticipating Challenges

'What Would You Do?' Nights allow our Death Workers to come together and discuss various challenges they might face in their work. During these sessions, participants explore a wide range of scenarios that could arise in their professional roles. By discussing these situations beforehand, we aim to build confidence and competence in handling unexpected issues, ensuring that we are well-equipped to support those in our care with dignity and respect.

Virtual & In-Person HHAngouts

HHA Hangouts provide a space for our Death Workers to learn, share experiences, grow, and network, enhancing our collective ability to provide compassionate care.

Community Engagement & Support

HHAngouts offer a unique opportunity for all HHA Death Workers, including volunteers, Candidates, and certified professionals, to come together as a community to discuss the successes, challenges and barriers encountered in their studies and practice.

This supportive environment provides a platform for mutual learning. Each session includes a check-in, a discussion on obstacles based on participants' stages in their journey, and an exploration of an educational theme through demonstrations, practice, role play, and group discussions.

Regardless of your role within HHA's Frontline Care Family or your current stage in the learning journey, attending HHAngouts is invaluable for staying connected and continuing your professional growth.

HHAngout are held quarterly both virtually and in person.
