Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula
Scholarship Fund

When labour leads to loss... no one should suffer alone.

Help us ensure that trained professionals are there to compassionately care for and support anyone who has experienced the loss of a pregnancy or infant.

Why is the Infant & Pregnancy Loss
Doula Certificate Program important?

Having heard so many stories of infant and pregnancy loss from our clients and community members, we recognized both the enornous need for compassion, education, care and support, as well as the massive gap in these services.

This is why, in 2015, Home Hospice Association (HHA) created Canada’s first Infant and Pregnancy Loss Doula (IPLD) Certificate Program, which has since gone on to equip communities all over Canada with trained professionals able to assist people during one of the most painful times of their lives thanks to the knowledge, tools and resources gained in the Infant & Pregnancy Loss Certificate Program.

Why do we have a scholarship fund?

There is an on-going need for the kinds of support that Infant and Pregnancy Loss Doulas are uniquely trained to provide, but there are still not enough professionals available to provide these services.

We need your help to ensure that anyone who is committed to building the Pre and Perinatal Hospice Program in their community is trained and equipped to do so.

1 in 4 people will experience pregnancy loss. Many of these people suffer their loss without partner- or family support. Help us be there for them.

Your donation matters

We’re incredibly grateful for any amount of financial support that you can offer to the Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula Scholarship.

With a donation of $700.00 CAD, you can cover the full tuition for one program participant. When that person completes the program, they become a Certified Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula and are able to serve their community.

Whether you subsidize an entire tuition or contribute towards the scholarship fund in any amount, each dollar helps to connect someone who is about to experience, or has just experienced, the loss of their pregnancy or baby with a Certified Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula who can support them through their grief journey.

Help us meet our goal of having trained Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doulas in all settings where these losses occur, including:

  • Hospital Birthing Units

  • Women’s Shelters

  • Women’s Prisons

  • Community Prenatal Centres

  • Midwifery Clinics

  • Family Health Teams

All donations towards the IPLD Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.

Who is eligible for this scholarship?

Recipients of the Infant & Pregnancy Loss Doula (IPLD) Scholarship must demonstrate their commitment to serving their community after completing the IPLD training.

Therefore, each person who is granted a scholarship is required to represent Home Hospice Association’s Pre and Perinatal Hospice Program in their community in some of the following ways:

  • Managing their local Comfort Cozie program
